On July 9th, 1976, Fred Savage entered the world as the son of Joanne and Lewis Savage. Raised in Chicago, he wasn't the only one in the family destined for the spotlight — his two siblings, Ben and Kala, would both pursue acting careers as well. At just 9 years old, Fred made his first onscreen appearance in Morningstar/Eveningstar, launching what would become a remarkably successful run as a child actor.

That same year, he made the leap to the big screen with his film debut in The Boy Who Could Fly. Things only accelerated from there — by the following year, Fred Savage had earned two Golden Globe nominations and two Emmy nominations for the role that would define his early career: Kevin Arnold on The Wonder Years. The distinction made him the youngest actor ever to receive such honors, and the wave of fame carried him into several film roles. Even while still starring on the show, he appeared in the 1988 film Vice Versa.

Once The Wonder Years wrapped up, Savage stepped away from the limelight to finish high school before heading to Stanford University for college. The 1990s became something of a transitional chapter as he took on smaller projects, but a new creative direction was taking shape. In 1999, he officially embarked on his directing and producing career, both directing and starring in the NBC sitcom Working. From there, Savage racked up an impressive list of directorial credits on shows like Hannah Montana, That's So Raven, Drake & Josh and Boy Meets World. He also kept busy behind the microphone during this period, lending his voice to animated series such as Kim Possible, Family Guy, Justice League Unlimited and Oswald. Then, in 2015, Savage stepped back in front of the camera when he was cast in the Fox series, The Grinder. Since then, he has continued to build a steady body of work in both directing and acting across ABC, NBC, and Netflix.
